ABSTRACT
Mesona Blume, belonging to the Labiatae, Mesona family, has been attracting increasing attention in recent past for its various bioactivities and diverse food application. The mainly studied functional compounds of Mesona Blume were polysaccharide, polyphenol and triterpenoid. They are believed to be responsible for the antioxidant, antiglycation, antihypertensive, antimutagenic activity, hepatoprotective effect and renal protective effect of this traditional herb. In this review, extraction, chemical structure, bioactivities and applications of these components and extracts from Mesona Blume were investigated and summarized. The future perspectives were also discussed. It is expected to provide a theoretical basis for further research of Mesona Blume.
