Student Perceptions and Reflections on Targeted Learning Outcomes

&
Published online: 21 Jan 2024

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate student perceptions on targeted learning outcomes through reflections and engagement questionnaires. The learning outcomes used for the research were based on Fink’s Taxonomy, which offers an integrated model for significant learning. Participants responded to quantitative and qualitative prompts about their perceptions of core concepts related to learning. A subset of the sample completed reflective assignments as part of their coursework that aimed to understand learning goals related to human dimension and caring goals. These goals measure learning through the development of new feelings, interest, and values, and learning about oneself and others. Evaluating student responses on targeted learning outcomes is an effective tool in understanding effective approaches aimed at achieving significant learning.
