Abstract

Several types of ion-selective membranes were tested to decrease the salicylate interference in clinical measurements of chloride. The study included electrodes with methyldodecylammonium salt and membrane matrices of poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC), silicone rubber (SR) and cellulose triacetate (CTA). The first two membranes were modified by the ultra- filtration (UF) and nanofiltration (NF) membranes, respectively, the cellulose triacetate membrane was modified by alkaline hydrolysis. The most significant and useful decrease by one and half order of magnitude of log KCl, Sal pot was observed for the silicone rubber membrane with additional nanofilter membrane.
