ABSTRACT
A spectrofluorimetric study of the extraction of thallium with 1,2-dichloroethane as an ion pair formed between the cryptand 2.2.1 thallium complex and the eosinate counterion is described. The detection limit for thallium is 0.9 ng/mL and the linear working range is up to 150 ng/mL of thallium. The relative standard deviation was found to be 2.0% at the 100 ng/mL level. The proposed method was tested for the determination of thallium in seawater.
