Application of Adaptive Wavelet Algorithm to the Resolution and Quantitative Analysis of Overlapping Multicomponent Chromatogram

Abstract

A wavelet algorithm based on the generation of adaptive filter coefficients for the resolution and quantitative analysis of overlapping multicomponent chromatogram was proposed. In the algorithm, the wavelet filters are constructed by an optimization approach using the correlation coefficient between peak areas and component concentrations as criterion. By application of the method to the resolution of simulated data with different noise level and resolution degree, it was proved that satisfactory recoveries can be obtained when the resolution degree (R s ) is larger than 0.4 and the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is better than 100:6. The method was also applied to the resolution of an experimental chromatogram, compared with conventional wavelet transform, it gives a more precise results.
