Dielectric Relaxation in Glassy Se75Te20Ag5

Abstract

Frequency and temperature dependences of dielectric constant (ϵ′) are studied in glassy Se75Te20Ag5in the frequency range (400 Hz–10 kHz) and in the temperature range 291°K to 327°K. The results indicate that the dielectric dispersion exists in the above frequency and temperature range. The dielectric loss (ϵ″) and loss angle (tan δ) have been calculated from the measured values of the real part of dielectric constant (ϵ′) using Gevers' formula. Cole–Cole diagrams have been used to determine the distribution parameter (α) and the relaxation time (τ). The temperature dependence of α and τ indicate that the dielectric losses are dipolar in nature in the present material.
