Effect of Thermal Sintering and Ultraviolet Irradiating on Photoluminescence of Self‐Assembled CdSe Nanoparticulate Films

Abstract

Citrate‐stabilized CdSe nanoparticles were assembled into multilayer films by the layer‐by‐layer assembly technique. The optical properties of the self‐assembled films were characterized by absorption and emission spectra. The CdSe nanoparticle conglomerates on the surface of the poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDDA) modified substrate were observed by SEM. The forming mechanism of the conglomerates was discussed. The emission spectra indicated that both CdSe nanoparticle aqueous solution and self‐assembled film exhibited significant enhancement of photoluminescence (PL) intensity in the presence of ambient oxygen and light. The effect of the thermal sintering and ultraviolet (UV) irradiating on PL properties of the self‐assembled films was investigated by optical spectra.
