Abstract

Well‐defined silica nanospheres with narrow size distribution were synthesized in the reverse micelle system. Chlorotrimethylsilane (CTMS) was used to introduce carbon impurity to the surface of as‐synthesized silica nanospheres. The silica nanospheres modified with CTMS exhibit a strong blue emission band centered at 440 nm when annealed at 473 K.
