Abstract
Colloidal CdSe nanocrystals were synthesized by a reaction of H2Se gas and Cd2+ ions in aqueous medium. The CdSe nanocrystals are characterized by UV‐vis absorption and photoluminescence spectra, AFM as well as XRD. The freshly synthesized CdSe sol shows a very weak photoluminescence (PL) and an unstructured absorption feature. Two methods, refluxing and UV irradiating, were used to activate the PL of as‐synthesized CdSe sol. The mechanism of the PL enhancement is discussed.
