Hb St. Luke's [α95(G2)Pro→Arg (α1)]

Dear Sir:

I refer to the article on Hb Rampa [α95(G2)Pro→Ser (α2)] by Hoyer et al. [Hemoglobin 2002; 26(4):397–404] in which it was stated that Hb St. Luke's had not as yet been assigned to either the α2‐ or the α1‐globin genes. In fact, Hb St. Luke's is known to be a mutation of the α1‐globin gene [Bezzina Wettinger et al., Hemoglobin 1999; 23(2):145–157].
