Abstract
Determination of trace aluminum in the form of 8-hydoxyl-quinoline chelate by reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography and spectrophotometric detection is described in this paper. The optimization of the experimental conditions including precolumn complexation, chromatographic separation, and detection wavelength is comprehensively investigated. The response is linear from 0.002 to 0.3 μg/mL with a detection limit of 0.002 μg/mL. The relative standard deviation is 3.6% at an Al concentration of 0.2 μg/mL. The reliability of the entirely optimized procedure is confirmed by the direct analyses performed on ten real drinking and natural water samples.
