Recently, Marcel Dekker Inc. (formerly the publisher of Petroleum Science and Technology) has been purchased by Taylor & Francis Publishers. As a result, changes will occur over the next several months that are designed to carry the journal into the future.
The most obvious change will be the presentation of the journal, that will match the presentation of other Taylor & Francis journals. For the authors, the journal will move from requiring camera-ready manuscripts prepared by the authors to a copy-edited journal. This will improve the quality and overall appearance of the journal. At this time, specific Instructions for Authors have not been prepared but until such guidelines are finalized, please use the Instructions for Authors that are used by the authors Energy Sources and can be found on the Taylor & Francis web site (http://www.taylorandfrancis.com). All authors should also note that a total manuscript size of sixteen pages (para, tables, figures) is recommended. This helps improve the manuscript flow.
Throughout all of the changes, Petroleum Science and Technology will remain a peer-reviewed, international, interdisciplinary journal of petroleum science and technology that serves as a forum for the investigation of trends in and solutions to resolving the issues of continuing increase in petroleum. The journal will continue to publish full-length research articles and the Editor is also willing to consider publishing selected proceedings from a conference or a collection of papers dealing with a single topic.
On a personal and professional note, I am familiar with Taylor & Francis, having been the Editor of Energy Sources (a Taylor & Francis journal) since 1992. I look forward to a long and successful life for Petroleum Science and Technology.
I send my thanks to all of you for your continued support of the journal.
Dr. James G. Speight
