Abstract

The determination of trace amounts of platinum(IV) based on the ion association compounds between a multicharged thiocyanate complex(containing Pt(IV)) and the hydrophobic basic dye-Rhodamine 6G by first derivative spectrometry is proposed. The method is characterised by high sensitivity (ε = 1.13 · 105 l · mol−1 · cm−11) and low detection limit (0.022 mg · 1−1Pt). The influence of matrix cations on the determination of platinum has been studied. Due to the serious interferences caused by palladium on the spectrometric determination of platinum the separation procedure of those metals by solid phase extraction technique on Cellex-T resin has been optimised.
