Summary
Properly designed programs of orthoptics and visual training are of great benefit in a large variety of visual problems. The use of orthoptic treatment in amblyopia, strabismus, and other cases of improper binocular coordination is well documented in the optometric and ophthalmological literature. Psychologists and educators are very much aware of the importance of adequate visual functioning as a factor in school achievement, and recent literature has devoted much attention to the utilization of optometric visual training procedures for the enhancement of visual abilities of the under‐achieving child.
