Notes
1. Seven of the specialty groups (as listed in CitationPandit, 2004) are not represented, i.e., Bible, Disability, Microcomputers, Middle East, Qualitative Research, Regional Development and Planning, and Worldwide Web. Four of these (the exceptions are Bible, Regional Development and Planning, and Microcomputers) were created between 1996 and 2000 and so may have been too late to get an invitation from Gaile and Willmott: no reason is given for the absence of the other three.
2. Of the 124 authors listed in the 1989 volume (excluding the editors), fourteen also appear among the 134 in the 2004 book: of them, nine write on the same topic in both volumes, with five (Stuart Aitken, Thomas Bassett, Susan Cutter, Reginald Golledge, and Burrell Montz) enlisted to write by different specialty groups in the two volumes.
