1 Connelly and Xu also note the relevance of Dewey’s ideas of experience to the practical: “The combination of the ideas of experience, and of curriculum as practical, as components of our argument yields a concept of curriculum inclusive of The Handbook topics” (p. 519). The reference to Dewey’s notion of experience, however, is not as explicitly developed or as prominent as Schwab’s conception of the practical in the editors’ comments on the field or on the development of The Handbook.
