1 Has directed the Mombasa Wreck Excavation since 1976 and for the last eight years has been a staff member of the Institute of Nautical Archaeology, Texas, United States. Has participated in more than fifteen surveys and excavations of ancient and historic shipwrecks, most notably the Kyrenia ship excavation in Cyprus on which he was assistant director from 1970 to 1975. Currently resides in Bodrum, Turkey, with his wife and daughter.
