Abstract
Peroxydisulphate (PDS) and peroxomonosulphate (PMS) initiated graft copolymerization of o-toluidine (OT) onto poly(propylene)(PP) fiber was carried out in an aqueous acidic medium under nitrogen atmosphere. The effect of added PP fiber on the chemical polymerization of OT at different experimental conditions were tested. It was observed that the added PP fiber increased the rate of homopolymerization with simultaneous graft copolymerization. The chemical grafting was confirmed by cyclic voltammetry, weight loss study and conductivity measurements. A probable mechanism has been proposed to explain the experimental results obtained.
