A New Method for the Compensation of Coaxial Cable Loss While Measuring EMP Signals

Abstract

The accurate measurement of fast rise time EMP is critical. The loss and dispersion characteristics of signal measurement cables cause distortion in these measurements. To compensate for a distorted pulse, an appropriate compensation method is essential. Ordinary methods are not accurate, and the FFT calculation method requires a great deal of computer resources. An analytic derivate equation using Cauchy's theorem shows good results which have been proved by comparing the equation's results with real world pulse measurements.
