Abstract

A small-sized, low-profile, and planar antenna for integrated Bluetooth and ultrawideband (UWB) applications is presented with WLAN band-notched. The antenna is fed by a special microstrip line, and it is built on PTFE (εr = 2.4) substrate with a whole size of 20 mm * 46 mm. Besides, the overall size of the radiating element is 15 mm * 16 mm. A semicircular and a split ring slot resonators are embedded in the radiating patch for dual band-notched to reject the WLAN interference band. The antenna can operate in the 2.25–2.5 GHz and 3.0–10.75 GHz frequency range that covers the Bluetooth (2.4–2.484 GHz) and UWB (3.1–10.6 GHz) with band-notched of 4.96–5.29 GHz and 5.54–6.01 GHz. The time domain consideration is also applied which exhibits good performance with short pulses.
