Abstract

The effective propagation constants in dense nontenuous media with multi-species of particles are studied. The multi-species refers to the case that the medium is a mixture of particles with different sizes and permittivities. Results based on the approach of Quasicrystalline Approximation (QCA) and the approach of Quasicrystalline Approximation with Coherent Potential (QCA-CP) are both calculated. The pair distribution functions for multi-species particles are computed by using the Percus-Yevick approximation (PY). In the low frequency limit, analytic closed form expressions are obtained for the complex effective propagation constants. Numerical results are illustrated as a function of particle sizes, fractional volumes and permittivities.
