Resumen

El artículo, de carácter introductorio al resto de artículos de este dossier, consta de dos partes diferenciadas. En la primera, se pretende dilucidar el significado de conceptos relacionados con el maltrato y la agresión entre iguales en el marco de la escuela a partir de las definiciones procedentes de una variedad de estudios realizados desde diferentes enfoques. En la segunda parte, se reflexiona acerca de algunas líneas recientes que caracterizan el estudio psicológico del maltrato entre iguales. En este sentido, se señala la necesidad de no quedarse en un análisis individual delfenómeno, de atender a los aspectos cognitivos, menos estudiados que las propias conductas, y de utilizar métodos cualitativos más útiles para ese propósito, en particular los procedimientos narratives.

Abstract

This paper introduces the rest of the studies included in this monograph. It is divided into two parts. The first attempts to elucidate the meaning of concepts linked to peer maltreatment and aggression in school based on definitions stemming from various studies undertaken from different approaches. The second part reviews recent trends in the psychological study of peer maltreatment. It therefore stresses the need: 1) to go beyond an individual analysis of social experiences; 2) to focus on cognitive issues that have received less attention than the behaviours themselves; and 3) to employ qualitative methods, stressing the usefulness of narrative procedures for this purpose.
