Abstract

The relation between emotional attribution dependent on false beliefs and certain aspects of social competence in children were the aim of the present study. For this purpose, 71 children aged 6–7 years-old were administered a cognitive-emotional false belief task and a questionnaire about their social interaction with peers. The results showed that in addition to children's verbal skills, other predictors of child performance in the mental state attribution task are level of likeability and social withdrawal in interaction with peers.
