Abstract

This study analysed the relationship between some maternal and paternal variables (affection, acceptance, emotional communication, transmission of values, moral intervention and dedication to one's children) and children's moral regulation, prosocial behaviour and aggressive behaviour at school. The sample group comprised 485 children (244 boys and 241 girls) aged between 6 and 8 years. The results showed that the principal variables discriminating between children with the highest and lowest levels of moral regulation, prosocial behaviour and control of aggression were maternal transmission of values and paternal affection in boys; and maternal affection and emotional communication in girls.
