Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyse the relationship between attitudes toward immigration policies and several psychosocial factors (perceived threat, social dominance orientation, perceived out-group size, and national identity) in a random sample of 196 Spanish residents. The bivariate analysis shows statistically significant results. The results of applying a structural equation model reveal that national identity and social dominance orientation influence attitudes toward immigration policy, but only through the assessment of outgroup size and perceived threat—the latter act as mediating variables.
