Abstract

It is maintained that the educational system has reduced the scope of its questions, assuming a limitation towards education which has placed it outside the great issue of the evolutionary process of humanity. Through references to cultural architectures of mind or ideal education models, it is proposed that education should be considered as active cultural evolutionism.

In debating about the two major cultural models: 1) incommunicability between cultures and 2) communicability and hybridism, a dialogic process of internarrativity is advocated. It is suggested that the human developmental process is open, and that in writing about our cultures, we are writing about ourselves as species and we play a leading role in a more or less consciously designed and decided evolution. In this setting, the educational programme is considered as an evolutionary choice that necessarily favours a cultural design, past or future. Finally, the paper addresses the issue of relations between matter and mind as a relation between economy and design of human factors, in so far that there is an in-depth genetic, causal, and structural relation between human setting and human mind. In this respect, it is pointed out that currently there is conflict between the development of the environment and that of the person, between the economy and education.
