Notes
1 The book would have been much lengthier yet if all of the visual material referenced in it was reproduced in the hardcopy of the book itself. Instead, that material has been made available by Mittler on a website (http://projects.zo.uni-heidelberg.de/continuousrevolution/index.php) that describes itself as providing “all the (audio-/)visual material mentioned and analyzed in the book and more….” Besides the images, the bibliography for the book is also available on the site. It is also worth noting that a substantial number of the sources (pp. 400–409 of the bibliography) are available in DACHS (The Digital Archive for Chinese Studies), housed on the website of Mittler’s home institution, the University of Heidelberg (visit http://www.zo.uni-heidelberg.de/sinologie/digital_resources/dachs/index_en.html for details).
