The journal achieved another important milestone in June when the annual impact factors were announced by Thomson Reuters. For the sixth consecutive year JSCM's impact factor has increased - a steady progression that reflects the journal's growing influence in the medical and scientific literature. The current impact factor is 1.442, another step closer to our objective of 2.0. You can help by making an effort to cite JSCM's articles and resources, regardless of where you submit.
This year, JSCM became Maney Publishing's 100th journal. As the newest addition to the Maney Health Sciences group. Maney's marketing staff is promoting the journal at international conferences for clinicians and scientists, as well as medical library congresses. Their efforts are introducing JSCM to a broader audience of professionals in spinal cord injury in Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines. At the 2011 Global Spine Congress in Barcelona, Maney reported that JSCM generated the most interest of any journal in their experience.
At the recent meeting of the Academy of SCI Professionals, the editorial board, and Academy leadership explored avenues to ensure participation by all the professional groups. All of the presenters of invited lectures have been encouraged to submit papers on their topic for publication in JSCM. These will be identified as special articles in upcoming issues. The editors are also working with the Academy's new Research Committee to integrate the missions of JSCM and the Academy.
We enjoyed meeting many of our readers in Las Vegas and hearing your feedback on JSCM.
