Editor's note

The Journal of Spinal Cord Medicine is pleased to be a part of the 5th National Canadian Spinal Cord Injury Conference: Translating Neural Engineering and Novel Therapies hosted by Toronto Rehabilitation Institute. The content of this issue reflects the many contributions of Canadian professionals to improving the care of people with spinal cord injury. Their excellence in research and clinical care has an impact beyond North America, as evidenced in these conference articles and abstracts. We extend our thanks to the conference chairs for allowing JSCM to showcase these achievements, and we thank our guest editor, John Steeves, PhD, for his excellent leadership and judgment.

Here at JSCM, we are working on special content for upcoming issues, including the consensus documents for the federally funded SCIRehab project, the culmination of an in-depth multidisciplinary analysis of the components of spinal cord injury rehabilitation in the US. J. Scott Richards, PhD, is guest editor for this third and final collection of papers that will inform the research in our field for years to come. JSCM associate editor Rory Cooper, PhD, is the guest editor for another special issue that is underway on the theme of assistive technology. We encourage you to sign up for JSCM's free TOC Alerts at: http://maney.co.uk/index.php/journals/scm/.
