Abstract
As a kind of non-homogeneous porous material, the strength and durability (impermeability, freeze resistance, carbonisation resistance, etc.) of concrete are affected by the inherent micropore structure. In this paper, the micropore structure of steel fibre reinforced concrete was analysed by mercury intrusion pore and scanning electron microscope, and the effect of fibre content (0–2%) on the micropore structure of concrete was also studied. Then, the effects of fibre content on the mechanical property and durability of concrete were summarised based on the fibre content: the micropore structure turns out to be better when the steel fibre content increases from 0 to 1·5%. However, the micropore structure will change for the worse because of the increase of large pore when the fibre content increases to 2%.
