Abstract

The phase and crystal structure of two kinds of white and bright phases, polygon and rectangle respectively, under a transmission electron microscope in Mn13 high carbon high manganese steel were analysed by energy dispersive spectrometer and selected area electron diffraction pattern calibration method. The results show that the polygon white and bright phase is Al2O3 with a size <500 nm and an orthorhombic crystal structure, where the reports about them have not yet been found; the rectangle white and bright phase is Al4C3 with a size 200–350 nm×55–130 nm and a hexagonal crystal structure, which is not reported in the previous studies.
