Abstract

The effect of grain boundary on ingrain micro non‐uniform plasticity deformation plays an important role in many attractive scientific areas, such as size effect of microforming, special properties of nanocrystalline and ultrafine grained metals. Many micromechanical models had been developed in the past decade to characterise such effect by importing some special concepts and variables, such as geometrical necessary dislocation and strain gradient, but for the complexity it is still under development. In this paper, to enhance the calculation efficient and also to consider the characteristics of micromaterials, crystal plasticity finite element simulation was used to discuss bicrystal ingrain non‐uniform plasticity deformation. Two cubic columnar copper grains with the combination of three typical orientations were deformed up to 15% under tension. Then the effects of misorientation and grain boundary on the non‐uniform ingrain deformation in the centre and the region near the grain boundary were compared and discussed in detail. It is shown that orientation, misorientation and grain boundary influence ingrain inhomogeneous plasticity deformation greatly.
