Abstract
Nuclear waste disposal is a growing problem around the world with the rapid development of the nuclear industry. This paper puts forward a new monitoring method which is aimed at tracking the radiation in sedimentary rocks by analysis of the relationship between temperature and rock electrical resistivity. The purpose of this paper is to validate the feasibility of the monitoring method based on the indoor and outdoor testing. On the assumption that temperature is the prime factor of electrical resistivity of the rock affected by nuclear disposal similar to the normal rocks, the temperature diffusion map of sedimentary rock under the heating source can be visualised by electrical resistivity variation at different points of the stratum. This monitoring method will help us to evaluate nuclear waste affected areas.
