Abstract
Measurements of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) resulting from coal combustion under different ambient gas properties are presented and a global kinetic model of formation is proposed. This model has been implemented into a numerical code based on the KIVA II approach and the computed results are compared with experimental data. The numerical code was also assessed using experimental results obtained by Godoy and Lockwood using the combustion of a turbulent coal–air jet.
