Abstract
Pediatric tumors pose many challenges for the surgical pathologist and histology laboratory. Most tumors have specific requirements for gross examination and tissue collection with important diagnostic, prognostic, and/or therapeutic implications. This review provides a general approach for optimally handling pediatric tumors, with particular ernphasis on guidelines for gross examination and procurement of tissue for ancillary studies and clinical trials.
