Abstract
Peroxidases in 21 samples of Lophozia incisa from the Tatra Mountains and 14 samples of L. opacifolia from the Tatra Mountains and the Swiss Alps were electrophoretically assayed. Although both taxa proved to be polymorphic, consistent differences were found between them. This indicates that electrophoretic peroxidase phenotypes provide an additional taxonomic character supporting the morphological and ecological differences, a summary of which is provided.
