Welcome to CMRO’s 40th Anniversary Issue

Dear readers,

We are proud to announce that CMRO turns 40 this year. The journal has come a long way since its launch in 1972, and remains successful largely because it has never strayed from its commitment to providing you – our worldwide audience of researchers, physicians and healthcare professionals – with authoritative clinical evidence, delivered in a fresh and appealing format.

Last year is a perfect example: CMRO’s Impact Factor increased to 2.609, placing us among the top 20 most cited journals in General and Internal Medicine. We also published two, well-received special issues – one on the latest developments in ADHD and the other on current issues in diabetes care. To top it off, we’ve made our content more user- and access-friendly by tagging papers according to therapy area, both online and in print. One new initiative we hope you’ll enjoy is our podcasts –recorded by the authors – of our most highly cited papers. Our goal is to provide a forum for further discussion and debate around last year’s most popular and important content.

In 2012, we will continue to bring you high quality articles that bridge the gap between industry breakthrough and therapeutic innovation. As with the last 4 decades of content, our aim remains one of publishing content with the potential to inform and impact medical practice. In the new year we are also excited to grow CMRO’s sister journals, the Journal of Medical Economics (JME), and the Journal of Drug Assessment (JDA), in their own right, thereby concentrating our efforts on channeling and attracting the most clinically relevant studies to CMRO.

As always, our service to authors and contributors remains our priority, and we pride ourselves on being leaders in transparency by facilitating a collaborative and honest approach to publication. The Editorial Office is always on hand to provide a timely, fair and honest appraisal of your work through pre-submission enquiry, and we can always be counted on to facilitate a robust, relevant and rigorous peer review process. We also realise the importance of time when it comes to publishing high priority studies, and aim to tailor the publication process to your needs through our Fast and Rapid Track services. In addition, our new ‘Just Accepted’ feature allows for even quicker dissemination of all submitted articles.

Finally, we thank everyone who has contributed to the journal over the last 40 years. Countless authors, reviewers, editorial and advisory board members and contributors have made the journal what it is today. We are grateful for all you have done and we look forward to continuing success over the next 40 years and beyond!

Sincerely,

Dimitri Mikhailidis (Editor in Chief) and the CMRO editorial team: Terri Metules, Fizah Khan and Malavika Legge
