Abstract
This investigation determined graduate student clinicians' interpersonal needs for affection, inclusion, and control as related to the clinical experience. Using a Likert Scale of Summated Ratings, respondents circled from 1 (low need) to 7 (high need) for ten variables under affection, inclusion, and control. Seven of the eight needs which respondents ranked as “very high” were affection. Specifically, they were the need to be perceived as competent by the client, the client's family, and the clinical supervisor; the need to be liked by the client, the client's family, and the clinical supervisor; and the need to control the client's behavior.
