A Review of Procedures for Improving Performance

Reviewers of empirical research generally conclude that participation in homework is beneficial to academic achievement and learning. Unfortunately, problems with homework completion are common among students of various ages and ability levels. This article describes the association between homework participation and academic achievement and discusses the difficulties that often coincide with homework completion. Interventions designed to address homework problems are reviewed with particular emphasis on techniques that target the homework problems of students with low ability and/or behavior problems.
