Pages 21-35 | Received 03 May 2002, Accepted 08 Aug 2002, Published online: 08 Sep 2008

ABSTRACT

This article examines the usefulness and therapeutic value of a sensory awareness group with the HIV/AIDS population. A specific example of a group led by the author illustrates the beneficial properties of enhancing senses with those living in a residential setting. Developing sensory awareness works from a strengths-based perspective and helps clients to stay in the “here and now,” feel more pleasure in their everyday lives, and integrate the mind/body experience.
