Pages 31-50 | Received 18 May 2004, Accepted 02 Aug 2004, Published online: 08 Sep 2008

ABSTRACT

This paper describes the use of group work with late adolescents preparing for life after high school. One major aspect of the work with the group members, students who were not targeted for help by school personnel or guidance counselors, included the college planning process. Four elements of group work practice were integral to the development and life of this group: (1) purpose, (2) use of activity, (3) mutual aid, and (4) problem solving. Process examples from the group are included to illustrate group work's effectiveness.
