The Art, Science, Heart, and Ethics of Social Group Work: Lessons from a Great Teacher

SUMMARY

This article highlights the components of Professor Roselle Kurland's vision that she made contagious to all who would listen. She believed that good group work requires a blend of science and art. In addition, she advocated for “heart” in practice and without exception held social workers accountable to the highest possible standards of both human and professional ethics. She believed that human ethics were central and essential to professional ethics.
