ABSTRACT
We present a treatment for residents of LTC facilities, positive core memories (PCMs). Initially, we discuss memories at later life, research areas that have considered memory and memory repair at later life-issues of cognitive aging, reminiscence, self-defined memories (and other methods that highlight the PCM), memory repair methods, and the pragmatics of memory therapies that have been applied in LTC. We do this to highlight the PCM. We then present results of a small study on the use of PCMs. Finally, we endorse this form of therapy and place it in the context of treatment in LTC. In the appendix we present our treatment manual.
