Pages 15-35 | Published online: 16 Oct 2008

Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) can play an integral role in the downsizing of organizations. This article reviews research and practice literature on EAPs and workplace layoffs. It also presents a practice model of an ideal intervention for EAPs to assist organizations in the downsizing process. EAP professionals can either adopt this model to offer as an additional product to their current client organizations or they can use this product as a marketing tool for future EAP customers.
