Abstract
Deconstruction challenges the authority of the language of social work's grand narratives and thus exposes the profession's dearest notions to a fresh examination, interpretation, and evaluation. “ScienZart,” a postmodern art project co-performed with a computer, blends art and science to create a research tool that deconstructs the social work text. Rooted in conceptual art and postmodern social science, “ScienZart” provides a means for unmasking the taken-for-granted worldview of social work by demystifying the language of the profession and by uncovering verbal life at the edge of chaos, around the circle of the unexpressed, and at the margins.
