Abstract

In order to prepare social workers better to intervene in the complex social problems affecting the health and social functioning of all populations, we propose the integration of appropriate public health content into the social work curriculum. In this paper we discuss the relationship between social work and public health, how public health content (i.e., epidemiology, prevention, community and population level interventions) fits in the social work curriculum, existing curriculum resources, and potential barriers to implementation of the proposal.
