Abstract

Social work education programs strive to integrate knowledge acquired in the classroom with practice through the field education experience. The Integrative Seminar is one mechanism to enhance integration efforts of students and field instructors. Little guidance and few models are available to graduate social work programs in offering such Seminars. This descriptive paper discusses the use of Integrative Seminars as a vehicle for integration and offers suggestions for designing and implementing Integrative Seminars in graduate programs. The progress of one graduate school in developing and instituting an MSW Integrative Seminar program across concentrations to promote practice-theory integration is described.
