Abstract

This paper presents a perspective on the problems of aging and ways to help depressed elders by proposing a constructive model for change. Getting old in constructive terms is described as a new season, a journey one takes, and as an integral part of the life cycle. Case examples are presented to demonstrate how elderly people can change their misconceptions about growing old, accept the changes they are going through, and design and construct new meanings for the present as well as the future.
