Abstract
The aging population in the United States is growing to increasingly larger proportions, and the need for progressive mental health policy and services for the elderly is a function of the rapidly growing elderly population. Lack of attention to mental health needs of the elderly, particularly the frail elderly, is reflected in the dearth of education, literature, and services in this area.
This study examined the influence of psychosocial constructs on well-being in a sample of 79 low-income, frail elderly. Statistical models indicated that several psychosocial constructs were significantly associated with well-being among these elders. Results have relevance for social work mental health service delivery and policy development for frail elders.
