Older Workers' Issues and Social Work Practice

Pages 157-164 | Published online: 11 Oct 2008

Abstract

Gerontological social work practice has expanded greatly in the past two decades, however older workers' issues have not been a primary focus of gerontological social work practice, social work literature or social work associations. The issues and conditions of older workers are of critical importance to social workers concerned with the quality of life of the older population. This article will briefly outline key older worker issues and selected programs and will review current social work interventions and suggest a potential future role for social work in this arena of practice.
